Phoenix Gramedia has licensed Fumiaki Maruto and Yom’s Imasara Desu ga, Osananajimi o Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita light novel and plans to release it soon.

Phoenix Gramedia, a company established by Kadokawa and Gramedia, announced Tuesday that it has licensed Fumiaki Maruto and Yom’s Imasara Desu ga, Osananajimi o Suki ni Natte Shimaimashita light novel. The company said its release is coming soon.

Maruto and Yom launched the novel and its manga adaptation simultaneously, and both remain ongoing. Maruto publishes novel chapters on the note website with illustrations by Yom. Yom also draws the manga, which runs on X/Twitter and in Comic Apanta.

Kadokawa released the first novel volume and the manga’s first collected volume in August 2025. The second volumes of both followed on March 10.

The story follows high school student Hikari and Ta-kun, the nickname of her childhood friend of 10 years. Their bond deepens during high school until they reach a turning point. What initially appears to be a straightforward romance later takes unexpected turns.

Maruto’s other writing credits include:

  • White Album 2: He is perhaps best known for writing this romantic drama visual novel’s story. It inspired a television anime in 2010.
  • How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend (Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata): His light novel series inspired a manga adaptation, two television anime seasons, and a film.
  • Classroom Crisis, Engage Kiss, and SI-VIS: The Sound of Heroes: He serves as head writer for these original anime.
