Yūki Yaku announced Wednesday that Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki will end with its 12th volume on October 16. The novels debuted in May 2016.

Yūki Yaku announced Wednesday on X, formerly Twitter, that Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki (Jaku-chara Tomozaki-kun) will conclude with its 12th volume on October 16.

Yen Press releases the light novels in English. Its synopsis follows Tomozaki, one of Japan’s best gamers, who considers real life among the worst games. He sees no clear rules for success, terrible balance, and little that makes sense.

Then he meets a female gamer whose skills match his own. She offers to teach him some exploits for navigating life.

The series’ anime releases include:

  • The first television anime premiered in January 2021. Funimation streamed it as it aired in Japan and also offered an English dub.
  • The second television season aired in January 2024. Crunchyroll streamed an English dub.
  • Two OVA episodes accompanied the anime’s third and fourth Blu-ray Disc and DVD volumes in May and June 2021, respectively. Funimation also streamed both episodes.

Shogakukan launched the novels in May 2016, with illustrations by Fly. The series placed in the top 10 of Takarajimasha’s Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! (This Light Novel Is Amazing!) guidebook rankings from 2017 through 2019.

The novels entered their final stage with volume 11 in March 2023. Shogakukan shipped volume 13 in January 2024. The publisher also released two short story collections numbered 6.5 and 8.5.
